My horse ate a prickly pear! He seems to be semi-choking - but the vets are baffled and unfamiliar with the small invisible spines on the prickly pear.
1st Vet Visit - the tried to put a tube in the horses esophagus - this appeared to push the cactus further. Now the horse coughs when he eats - trying to get rid of the cactus.
In an article on this site - it said consult a professional to remove spines (and glochids). What type of professional do I need to consult?
Will these spines and glochids eventually just dissolve?
Appreciate any assistance or if someone had a similar experience - how did you resolve the situation?
Thanks!
