Thank you for your information. My Mum-in-law found an old 2003 catalog that listed a picture very similar as an Easter Cactus but botanically named Rhipsalidopsis Gaertneri. Is this the same as the Hatiora of which you speak ? This cactus came from my Mum-in-law's grandmother, so is a very old plant, and we want to save it, make new starts for other family members since it is an hierloom plant for us. Thanks again.

Hello,
Thanks for the photos. Your plant is the Easter Cactus (Hatiora gaertneri). It is possible to prune the plant to get new starts. We allow the new cuttings to heal, pot up and water. The new potted up plants are prone to rot with too much watering so we let the soil dry before re-watering.

Inherited this cacti which blooms Mid April to late May. up to 6 blooms on the end of each limb. Thought it might be commonly called 'Easter cactus' but not sure. Please see photos on my facebook account. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Charles Willam Burton
