Great pictures of these cacti in the wild. These plants are known as cholla cacti and are a member of the Opuntia plant genus, the same genus as the common prickly pear. The specific variety is a little hard to judge; I'd guess Cane Cholla (Opuntia spinisior).

I was out on a little excursion today, and I saw these cacti everywhere. The photos were taken at approx. 5300 feet at Coronado National Monument in Arizona, about 1 mile from the US/Mexico border. Can anyone identify them? Thanks!
