 Swollen Hand From Cactus Prick!!

My boyfriend was working one day, while reaching for something he bumped his hand against a cactus and got pricked. A whole section of the cactus came off with his hand as he pulled away. This happened about 2 weeks ago, and it all seemed fine, but about 1 week ago a bunch of tiny red bumps showed up on the prick site. His hand has also swollen to about twice the size. It has (very slowly) gone down in size, but he still can't make a full fist without pain, and the red bumps are still very much there. I have pictures of the cactus and his hand, but I can't figure out what kind of cactus it is, or what to do about his hand. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
